What Is An Engineering Survey?

Engineering surveys are generally associated with the design and construction of new infrastructure projects to ensure they are built in accordance with the design criteria with regards to location, size and shape. This can include surveyors prior to the design process to ensure the accuracy of the site plans.

Please see below for further information on the type of engineering surveys Statewide provides, if you are unsure of what you require please click here to contact our office.

Contour and Detail Survey

A Contour and Detail Survey is a survey that is conducted to record and map the features of a property. Items include but are not limited to the location of buildings, trees, structures, fences, stormwater, sewer & water services, topographical land features (spot levels/contours). Contour and detail surveys are commonly requested by architects, designers & builders at the beginning of a project for them to create there new building/structure designs.

Engineering Setout

Engineering setouts occur during the building process of a new structure to ensure they are built in accordance with the design criteria with regards to location, size and shape. Surveyors can be involved prior to the design process to ensure accuracy of the site plans. Statewide Survey Group has been involved in the setout of high-rise buildings, house extensions, sheds, new houses, townhouses, carports, etc.  Statewide Survey Group currently has several high rise building in progress including 3 – 7 story buildings in Yeronga and a 32 story building located at Woolloongabba.   Statewide Survey Group have completed many high rise buildings in the past including Santos Place, Brisbane for Hutchies, which was the first building in Brisbane to achieve a 6 star Green Star Rating.

As Constructed & ADAC Surveys

As Constructed Survey (Ascon) is generally conducted to locate the position of relevant services and/or infrastructure during or at the conclusion of construction. This is done to document the degree to which the development has in fact complied with the project design plans. An As Constructed survey can provide a useful reference in the event of future development.

Depending on the Council – the As Constructed data may be required to be completed to a higher level of detail & presented in the form called ADAC.

Civil Constructions

Civil Construction Surveying incorportates the construction of new roads, new housing subdivisions, minor and major earthworks projects, underground services and many more areas.  Statewide Survey Group has extensive experience in civil construction projects, ranging from small civil land development projects to large $500m+ infrastrcture projects.  These projects include new Roads and Bridges, Airport Runway and Apron Extensions, Rail Yard Facilities, Dam projects and large subdivisions.   Statewide Survey Group is committed to providing the most cost efficient survey method for all aspects of surveying whilst also providing quality results and data formats for all clients

Photogrammetry

Aerial Photogrammetry is an area of surveying that has historically been out of reach for most Land, Construction and Civil projects.  Recent advancements in Drone Hardware and photo imaging software have unlocked this technology and allowed more sites access to Aerial Mapping, not just for and overall site image for display purposes but for digital terrain modelling, volume calculations, quantity measurements and price estimation.  Aerial Photogrammetry is an extremely valuable tool for surveyors providing clients with time and cost savings.  Aerial Photogrammetry can be utilised for Site Progress Tracking, End of Month Volumes and Payment Claims, DTM survey models, point cloud and 3D mesh models of ground surfaces captured at a specific data and time, as well as many other applications.  Statewide Survey group believes Aerial Photogrammetry is now an essential tool that all civil and construction projects should have access too.  Statewide Survey group’s qualified Pilots use the latest technologies to produce an accurate 3D image and DTM model of any site.  Survey data can then be transfered to various software platforms including 3D mesh models and point cloud files to an accurace comparable to a GPS survey.
